Freelance construction management – International projects in the water sector

For our client in the water management sector, we are looking for an experienced freelance project manager (m/f/d) for international projects. You take overall responsibility for construction supervision and coordinate all relevant activities on site. In doing so, you ensure a timely, cost-effective and quality-compliant implementation of demanding infrastructure projects in the field of water supply and wastewater management.
Tasks:
  • Overall responsibility for construction supervision and coordination of all construction activities on site
  • Project management, contract management, and time and cost control
  • Quality assurance and complaint management during construction
  • Processing of contractual matters, in particular deviations and change orders
  • Ensuring a continuous on-site presence and monitoring of all construction activities
  • Monitoring and inspection of the contractor's surveying work
  • Examination, evaluation and approval of submitted documents and technical documentation
  • Inspection and testing of materials, equipment and completed works
  • Support in the commissioning and handover of completed systems and facilities
  • Examination of payment requests as well as preparation of interim and final payment certificates
  • Support in the process of claiming reimbursement and in the preparation of proof of service
  • Accompanying and monitoring of the contractor's performance throughout the entire period of the warranty period for defects
Profile:
  • Completed university studies in civil engineering or a related field
  • At least 15 years of international professional experience in water supply, wastewater treatment and wastewater management projects
  • At least 10 years of experience in the supervision of water and sanitation infrastructure projects
  • Proven leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary teams of international and local experts
  • Extensive experience in the processing of FIDIC-based contracts
  • Knowledge and experience with mediation procedures are an advantage
  • Excellent English skills in both written and spoken language
Framework conditions:
  • Project start: 1st quarter of 2027
  • Duration: 1 year with a high probability of renewal
  • Occupancy: Full-time
